You Dreamed of Books is located inside Plate 21 in South Toledo. We offer a selection of new and used books, but we specialize in classic and contemporary fiction and creative or thought-provoking nonfiction.

Is this a bookstore?
We like to think of ourselves as a “bookstore installation”—a tiny bookshop that exists symbiotically inside a coffee shop (which also happens to be one of our favorite places in Toledo). Our hope is to offer the browsing experience of a great independent bookstore within a cozy community coffee shop. A perfect pairing, we think!
How does it work? Are you guys an extension of Plate 21?
Nope, we’re a different business. We curate and stock the shelves behind the scenes so that you can buy your books directly at the Plate 21 register.
Do you take book donations or buy used books?
We’ll have several specific days designated for used book drop-offs and book buying appointments this fall. Dates TBD! Stay tuned.

About us
We first met at the Detroit Festival of Books and have been collecting obscene amounts of books together ever since. Our collection, now a shared one, has been steadily boxing us out of our own home for a while now, and we realized it was time for us to find a new outlet to channel our love of good literature.
